Marie-Ève Joël passed away on 16 December 2019. A distinguished professor of health economics and ageing, she devoted her career and retirement to sharing her knowledge and expertise. As an advisor to ILVV, she provided unwavering and invaluable support

From the very beginning, she laid the foundations of the Institute with us. And it is with pride that we received the mandate she entrusted to us to continue the projects conducted by the GDR Longévité et Vieillissement (Longevity and Ageing Research Group) which she co-directed with Jean-Marie Robine.

Throughout these two years, she has accompanied us, present at our side whenever she could, in particular by chairing our scientific board. And it is with gratitude that we have benefited from her advice and contributions.

On 20 November 2019, with a smile on her face and a sense of complicity, she launched the first edition of our Autumn School with us. And it is with this happy memory that we endure this immeasurable loss.
